CDS Helps Clients Access $1.2 million in Federal VAPG Funding

February 4, 2012-   The USDA announced grant awards this week for the Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG) program.  Among the successful grantees were five CDS clients:  Clearbrook Elevator Assn (Clearbrook MN), TFC Poultry (Ashby MN), Cedar Summit Dairy (New Prague MN), Pastures a Plenty (Kerkhoven MN), and Wild Idea Buffalo Company (Rapid City SD).

The VAPG program awards grants competitively on a 1:1 cost share basis to farmer-owned value-added businesses to encourage business diversification, domestic processing, and rural employment and development. Collectively CDS clients will receive over $1.2 million in federal funds to advance their business enterprises.

CDS has a long history of success in helping producer-owned enterprises with the VAPG program by providing assistance with feasibility analysis, business planning, and grant writing.  In the past decade, CDS has been successful with 33 of 34 clients who collectively have been awarded over $5.25 million.
