As I complete my first trip around the sun as Executive Director, I’m humbled by the trust placed in me to steward this remarkable organization, and by the supportive and interconnected network of cooperators around the country that buoy CDS up and make our work possible. A year on the job has deepened my appreciation for the transformative power of cooperation—how when we pool our resources, share our knowledge, and lift each other up, we create something far greater than any of us could achieve alone.
This year has been one of both honoring our past and building for our future. From celebrating with supporters at our regional gatherings to advocating for cooperatives on Capitol Hill—where past ED Kevin Edberg and I met with staff from Representatives Angie Craig, Brad Finstad, and Kelly Morrison’s offices at the recent IMPACT conference—I’ve seen firsthand how CDS’s 40-year legacy continues to open doors and create opportunities for the new generation of cooperators.
Every day, I am privilege to witness the passion of our staff, the commitment of our board, and the grit and optimism of our clients. Together, we’re not just preserving a 40-year legacy; we’re actively shaping the next chapter of cooperative innovation and community resilience.
Thank you for being part of the journey!
