Cooperative Network, Minnesota Farmers Union and others are championing new legislation making its way through the Minnesota State Legislature that will provide grants to support farmer-owned value-added processing. Bills are receiving bipartisan support from both House and Senate agriculture committees.
Though in slightly different forms, both bodies are inserting new programs in their respective appropriations bills. The differences will be negotiated in the Conference Committee, prior to heading to Governor Walz’s desk for potential approval.
