The National Farmers Union held its annual College Conference on Cooperatives February 14 in Minneapolis. The companion Louis Doering Keynote Luncheon continues to honor the legacy of Louie Doering and gives the chance for local cooperators to talk about the love and diversity of the co-op model with students from mostly rural areas who might only know about the co-op grain elevator. And, of course, this year is special with it being the International Year of Cooperatives.
This year students visited with representatives that included CDS, CoMinnesota, Collectivety, National Co+op Grocers, Shared Capital, Riverton Housing Co-op, REI, Organic Valley, Northcountry Cooperative Foundation, CHS, Seward Co-op, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and Blaze Credit Union.
