Joining the board of directors can be one of the most meaningful ways to support your community food co-op, but it can also be a little mysterious. This session will give new and prospective directors an honest, practical preview of food co-op board service. We’ll cover the basics of cooperative governance, including your fiduciary role, the board’s relationship with the GM, and how decisions typically get made. We’ll also spend time on the things that orientation manuals sometimes skip, including unwritten norms, getting comfortable with the learning curve, and what makes a director truly effective.
Led by Leslie Watson, this session is offered twice this summer:
Thursday, July 9, 6:30-7:30pm REGISTER HERE
Wednesday, August 19. 6:30-7:30pm REGISTER HERE
